My Precious
"My Precious" is a famous line from the character Gollum, who can never be hated.
The decisive reason why we can't really hate him is that he resembles us.
It is so sad to see him coveting and attached to the ring full of greed.
Some people may deny that Gollum resembles us, but cherishing, loving, and protecting something is a basic greed that we don't even notice.
This is not to say that it is wrong at all. It may be too obvious as an intelligent person, but what's wrong is that we end our lives without knowing what we really want.
If I say I crave something, whether it's honor or reason or money or power, anyone who has tasted it at all times wants more like a drug addict.
The greed will last until the day of death and for those who believe in the reincarnation it will never end.
Others say that I am not like that, that I earn a lot of money and live by giving to others, that I am different from other people and that I am no longer greedy because I have quit because I have enough power and status.
No, greed has changed to something else, and if you are really satisfied, you won't even think that you are not greedy.
We have a mind to keep dealing with the world without our knowledge.
For example, I wish I could rest in peace for the rest of my life, saying that I have given up my stomach to people around the world or that I have given up my seat for future generations without keeping my high position.
For example, let's say there was a car accident on the way home after helping others.
There are two ways to interpret it, one is to think that heaven has protected me because I am on my way here after volunteering to help others, and the other is to think about why this is happening to me when I did a good thing.
Both must be from the wishful thinking.
There is the word "Bo Shi" in Buddhist terms and the meaning is to reward my actions without asking for compensation.
In fact, this job is easy and difficult, as if it were giving and receiving without thinking.
Whatever it is you may think it's very small and simple while you're hoping for it, but if there's something there, you're still Gollum and you're just blinded by the absolute ring.
However, there may be differences in greed depending on how hard the whirlpool of individual life has been, but a life that one does not wish for can never be achieved without seeing the reality of this world.
If we had let Gollum go, knowing that it was not the ring that blinded Gollum, but the desire for the ring, we would have seen Gollum in a beautiful temple next to the Buddha statue.
